PLANNED RECLAMATION PROJECTS
The WVDEP Office of Abandoned Mine Lands is planning several reclamation projects that will affect the North Fork of the Blackwater. They are as follows:
- Pendleton Creek Strip - WV-2128– Although this does not drain directly into the Northfork, it appears that vertical openings within a tributary of Pendleton Creek increase the discharge at Sunrise Sanitation. This project is currently in design phase. Click here for a map of the Pendleton Creek Strip AML Site.
- Tub Run Highwall & Refuse - WV-2279– This proposed project falls within the drainages of both Tub Run and Long Run. Currently, acid producing material (spoil/gob) along both of these streams contribute to the acid loads entering the Northfork. Preliminary mapping has begun for this project. - Roger Camp Hill Refuse and Spoil – WV-6233 This site is situated along the headwaters of the NorthFork and includes areas of unvegetated spoil /gob and AMD discharges. This project is currently in the planning phase. Click here for a Roger Camp Hill Refuse and Spoil location map.
